Many shopkeepers hereabouts dispense their wares wrapped in cheap bags made by gluing together pages of discarded school books. I imagine anyone, over time, could amass a good education by diligently reading through their shopping bags.

Today's trip to the bakery turned up a rare find: evidently someone's French homework. What a stroke of luck. When I visit France I will be able to admonish the natives for speaking too slowly.
